Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the back.

This artwork comes with an external frame

I have a love of Australian birds. This is a male pink Galah who I decided to call Kenneth (it felt like a good Australian name for a pink bird). A close up portrait so I could focus on his feather shapes and patterns.

Painted with acrylic paint on stretched canvas. Protected with two layers of satin varnish. Framed in natural Tasmanian Blackwood (sustainably sourced plantation grown).

There is a hanging wire on back to hang on your wall or the frame is wide enough that the painting can also be displayed standing on a shelf or side table.

Laughing kookaburras are such an iconic Australian bird but it was not until I started observing them in my own garden that I developed a real love and appreciation for them.
They have an intense gaze when scanning the ground for prey or, as I have chosen to draw here, keeping guard of their territory. Fiercely territorial, they protect their chosen area in family groups. Each bird is different, particularly the individual patterns on their faces. Using coloured pencils on watercolour paper, I take my time to focus on the details of their unique feather markings. Observing these individual characteristics allows me to tell them apart. Here I have drawn a brother and sister from the family group in my garden with the younger sister in front.

The drawing itself is done on A3 size paper and framed behind mat board in a natural wooden frame matching the tones of the drawing.
Three brightly coloured green Indian ringneck parrots with one of them hanging upside down. A coloured pencil drawing on paper.A portrait of a swift parrot. Swift parrots are mostly green with some red, blue, yellow and purple colour patterns. The swift parrot sits behind eucalypt leaves. Drawn with coloured pencils on coloured paper. Framed with a white mat board and wooden frame.A drawing using coloured pencils of a female king parrot showing her full body from behind hanging head down from a branch covered in white blossoms.
