Duck Creek Picnic Races
By Little Heath
September 2023
This is one of a series of paintings of Picnic Country Races. Many years ago I went to the Cup . Some Kangaroos were nibbling the dry grass and resting in the shade of gum trees around the track . I thought it was a bit strange that the course attendants hadn't moved them away. Though they did seem harmless enough.
Anyway, long story short , on the 3rd race as the horses galloped around the track , running up the strait towards the finish line , one of the Kangaroos decided to hop on the track. Suddenly it took fright & to the delight of the audience got caught up in the race & won by a nose .
The two Bookies jokingly said the Kangaroo won π€The kangaroo was reported on the Tv news that evening.
This painting brings to life that delightful incident.
Please note the story behind this painting will be printed , signed & attached to the back of canvas .
