Having my earlier etchings likened to Samuel Palmer's (who at that stage I had not heard of) I was inspired to search his works. I found they spoke to me so much that I had to loosely homage some of his works. This brings me to 'Rabbit's Rustic Scene'. Inspired by Samuel's artwork 'A Rustic Scene', I worked my avatar (artist as an animal) rabbit into my interpretation of his work. In the original there was a man and a bullock, I decided a rabbit artist was needed to work in the forest touching up bits of nature that perhaps required a little more attention.
Samuel's works often have the most amazing shaped hills and rises, so I brought a little of Sydney into what would have been a rocky rise. This work is an original etching/aquatint and is VP (not numbered) - variable print meaning it is a one off print using the etching plate, varied wipes and unique colour. The reason for this is that I like to push the print in differing directions instead of a large run of a single colour. I find the work responds in exciting ways when other hues or differing pressure is used. Offered framed in a distressed gold professional frame.
**Please note most accurate colour is in the detail shot. The framed shots do have some reflection due to the glass.
