Artwork Description

This is the first painting in the migration series which was inspired by memories, photographs and my parents' stories of migrating to Australia from England in the 1950s. The streamers thrown between ship and shore were a common element of these departures and symbolised the familial ties between passengers and those left behind. This painting was a finalist in the ANL Mission to Seafarers Award in 2015.
