Artwork Description

Clairefontaine Pastel board

Meet "Charming Venice View" is my latest scene from this beautiful city of Venice. I fell in love with an image I came across on one of the many Photography groups in Facebook. This unusual vista of a venetian canal seen through an arched doorway was kindly supplied by Photographer Bob Tracey. Lovely soft and colourful reflections in the water of the surrounding facades and the bridge. Wonderful facades of the different buildings with their windows and doorways.
I really enjoyed using pan pastels and soft pastels to create this artwork.

looking down on the city of Venice with it's architectural history, the red roofs and chimneys, the Santa Marรญa della Salute along the azure blues of the Grand Parade and beyondfrom a back street one can see a couple of old cottages with rusty tin roofs and washing hanging from the line, gardens enclosed by timber palings and large fence posts with an array of grasses, dirt mounds and in the far background the many shrubs and trees the Australian bush surrounding this quaint village of Berrima in the Southern Highlandsa forest landscape following a rutted dirt track on a crisp and sunny autumn day, with the sun filtering through and tree trunks and branches casting shadows with contrasting foliage shining brightly in hues of yellows and orange with green shrubs alongside the trackunder a blue sky with some white clouds is the winding Tumut River with a number of deciduous trees glowing with cheerful colours in bright sunshine, growing along it's banks and their reflections in the slow moving water.
