This delicate watercolour painting features a New Holland Honeyeater, which was one of the first birds to be scientifically described in Australia. Found in woodlands and gardens along the southern side of Australia, these beautiful little birds use their long beaks to feed on nectar from native flowers, such as banksias and grevilleas.
I photographed this bird on a trip to South Australia, and was fascinated by not just the bird itself but also the lovely curves of the tree branch it landed on for a few moments. I really enjoyed painting the feather details of this Honeyeater.
The painting is ready to hang, framed in a glossy black frame, and the off-white double matt compliments its elegance.
Framed dimensions are 47x37.5cm.
