This oil painting depicts the intimate moment when I brought my first child back home from hospital after a quite traumatic birth experience. It is a tightly cropped internal space, with strong use of colour and light. I have a lot of emotion attached to this image and the experience of being a new mother with the responsibility of caring for my tiny and vulnerable baby. I think this image is beautiful in its vulnerability.
