Artwork Description

Oil on wood

Signed on the front.

This mini original painting of a rural landscape in Bright, Victoria is completed with oil on wood board, and comes with a little 10cm high display easel. It is a "Table Art' piece that is intended to sit on a bureau, sideboard, table or shelf. It can lean against the wall on a wall shelf or sit on the small display easel provided as a lovely piece of decoration.

I painted this landscape a friend photographed for me in Victoria during week two of lockdown in Sydney. I was feeling inspired to paint in a smaller scale and really enjoyed it and found myself obsessed with displaying small artworks around my house on the small easels as table art.

There is something quite special about walking the Esplanade at Cronulla on a dark overcast day and watching an ocean that is alive with movement.

I find the incredible colours of the shoreline foliage are intensified when damp on a day with no sun shining. So many purples, rusty reds, oranges and pinks jumped out at me. I really loved painting this one, the looseness and carefree approach with the paintbrush was so enjoyable, and I think it’s one of my first grey day moody pieces.
I love the winswept tree and ocean side shrubbery and great rocks look as if they are falling down to the sea.A street scene of the Strand, the main road through Croydon village. It shows the distinctive old post office which are prominent and iconic through many suburbs of the inner west of Sydney. The afternoon sun creates strong shadows off the two storey building of the street. To the left, a pair of a much longer row of palm trees frame the scene. a dry Australian country scene showing hints of promise with a water billabong and green trees admidst the pink and beige landscape. A lone windmill from a water well can be seen in the distance. Painted with relaxed short brushstrokes, avoiding too much detail, and letting the colours and shadows speak for themselves. an urban back lane showing the buildings and their shadows on either side, with a public school in the distance. Framed in oak
