A contemporary painting one of a series exploring the sandstone coastline. This work is a play on our use of the rocky foreshore and a childhood love of rock pooling and rock hopping.

From the Sediments of Time series which expands the theme of my recent collections exploring Australia’s unique ecosystem, diverse topography, and colour. This series depicts the rich sandstone which adorns Australia's coastline, its undulating permutations, variation in colour and grain and the strata layers of natural sediment, nooks crannies and hidden gems deposited and buried long ago.

Approximately 15 layers of acrylic medium and paint are used to build the relief texture, colour overlay and detail. Accents of glass beads provide a hint of shimmer. Shapes and contours are carved into the medium, using mostly non-traditional objects. Canvas is stretched and ready to hang.
