French Laneway in Le Mans by Rochelle Toomey

I was taken aback by a photo of old Le Mans in France with all its lanes and beautiful buildings. I decided to paint this one as it is home to some beautiful restaurants which is all bustling and busy during the day but by night is still. The light pours out from two street lamps and the light from the windows tell us the buildings occupants are settling down for the night. This is a very moody piece that draws the viewer in.

The artist often takes inspiration from architecture, nature and landscapes that take the viewer on a journey and bring feelings of warmth and contentment.

This piece was  painted by the artist using professional watercolour grade paints and small details in pencil  on Arches cold pressed 300 gsm watercolour paper. The artist only uses light-fast supplies of the highest standard to ensure the piece retains its vibrancy and quality.
