I love painting Australian birds and plants, this magpie painting is inspired by my local neighbourhood in Sydney's Inner city suburb of Newtown. Here you will find amazing unique Australian nature co-existing with the built environment – rundown old victorian terraces with wild overgrown gardens and lots of vibrant street art. This style of painting is a natural progression of my work, it's becoming more free and expressive. The line work has movement and spontaneity in the brush strokes in some areas, and in other parts such as the feathers, I have concentrated on intense, accurate line work.

This work is painted onto very thick archival Saunders textured watercolour paper and features a deckled edge on all four sides.
