Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
Layered watercolour painting a pair of Golden Whistlers and some stylised coastal banksia on thick textured cotton watercolour paper.
My work is very much connected to the place I live and features the backyard birds and plants common in my inner city neighbourhood. My works on paper draw their inspiration from traditional Japanese woodblock printing (Ukiyo - e) natural history books and the patterns I find in nature. I enjoy working with Chinese calligraphy brushes, predominantly using expressive line to create my images.
