Watercolour on paper
Signed on the front.
This expressive watercolour painting is from a small series of works adapted from my holiday sketchbook. We were lucky to get away to the Mid North NSW Coast for a week during the school hols and since it was raining I spent most of the trip on the balcony drinking wine and sketching the tropical gardens below. (Dream holiday for me - not so much for my kids).
Now I'm back in the studio I wanted to try to re create the raw energy of those small water logged and wine stained sketches at a larger scale. The earth tones in this work are restorative, as are the little specks of metallic silver paint woven intuitively into the gestural marks. Painted onto beautiful thick textured ivory cotton paper with a deckled edge on all sides.
The last image is an example of two of the works from this series hung side by side, this work 'Holiday gardens #1 is also for sale on Bluethumb.
