ABOUT THE WORK:
My work is inspired by the plants growing in the streets and gardens of my inner city neighbourhood. There's a giant Protea tree growing in a front garden on Llewellyn Street Enmore, and I've been meaning to include it in one of my paintings for sometime now. I finally snapped some photos and got to work on this piece which also features a pair of kookaburras who like to visit from time to time. The subtle blue/grey hues of this work combined with the pinks of the protea flowers make for a really beautiful, calm colour combination.
