I love and hate experimentation, it breeds new ideas and creativity but it provides a source of doubt and insecurity as well. This painting is just that, a mix of new ideas and doubt. While landscapes for me are basically second nature, the colours i use are rarely this outlandish and bold. But I wanted to challenge myself, try different arrangements of colour and play with shape, layout and texture. I'm still on the fence about the result, but it's what is necessary to grow.
