Someone asked me recently why I havent made abstract artworks of the artists who inspire me? Good point I think.
Ive always enjoyed exploring realism when listening to the musicians I love, but I like the idea of using abstraction to capture them in a different light. This is the first in a series I am doing exploring the icons of Hip Hop, the ones who have left a legacy that others now walk the path of. Notorious B.I.G, is easily one of the most known names and faces in Hip Hop, a cultural icon and recognised as an influence on many artists who came after him. He is one of the voices that reflects a type of hip hop that seems to be less heard in the modern day, there was thought and story in the rhymes, rhythms and sounds that could be recognised as "Biggie" from a mile away, where as now so much music sounds indistinguishable from the next.
I hope in time we have more artists who take notes from the artists of this almost by gone era of music.
