Gathered Blooms Lost-
She knew she was going to be late home from school, but the task of picking flowers for her Mother seemed much more important.
In a child’s mind, the idea that a beautiful bunch of blooms from a loving daughter could make her Mothers gloomy moods disappear, seemed to make perfect sense.
But as a child, the world still appeared perfect, for now anyway.
Her small hands gripped the curated blooms, much like a blushing bride on their wedding day.
She turned onto their street beaming with confidence and optimism.
Suddenly she felt the sting of the bee, and the flowers dropped to the ground.
Looking down at her hand, tears filled her eyes as she studied the stumbling bee and the stinger left behind.
Her plan was ruined, and she feared the gloomy moods would be here to stay.
As she ran up the front steps, hoping to be embraced into her Mothers arms, she opened the front door.
“Where have you been! You’re late!”
Her Mothers breath smelt like the drink Grandma always had at Christmas time.
It was another gloomy day, with gathered blooms lost.
