A composite image made up of various photographs taken by me to create a new uncluttered slightly surreal landscape, generally somewhere you wouldn't expect to find it, an ‘un-scene’ if you like. Elements are selected for similar lighting, street furniture and clutter removed in Photoshop, and toned to blend in with their new environments. Most images belong to a 3 part themed series, have a white border and include a certificate which tells the story and inspiration behind each image.
Each print has a digital signature bottom corner of the image and a white border for framing.

I have always loved the iconic pavilions on piers around the world like St Kilda here in Melbourne, Brighton, San Francisco and the Californian coast. These can’t exist in Far North Queensland; they wouldn’t survive our cyclones. So, I decided to make my own.

All piers are from FNQ, Magnetic Island, Palm Cove and Lucinda, respectively.
The components making up the structures are from old architectural images from Charters Towers, Maryborough, Toowoomba, Ballarat as well as numerous festivals, circuses and shows for the rides, neons, and tents.

They look like places I would want to go and explore with my camera, a hangout for young teens, or a place for an older couple’s afternoon stroll whilst walking the dog.

Pier De Pastel

Late afternoon with a simple reverse sunset painting a pastel glow onto this scene. The pier is deserted apart from a flock of seabirds and the odd person exploring its treasures. A gentle sea breeze gives the ferris wheel a jiggle as its cabins creak and scares off the birds.
