Inspired by a recent painting workshop I attended in Provence to extend my oil painting practice, this piece was the result of combining fresh lemons from our garden tree with newly gleaned still life set-up skills - the idea being, as it is painted from life, to visually pick what is the light and where are the darks. It's interesting that the finished work evokes a freshness which is in line with subject and in line with the joy that I had painting it.
