Gold In Gold Out is a large abstract painting in earth colours. This painting is part of my ‘identity’ series, which explores Thai and Aboriginal patterns within artworks. I have touched on this concept before. Because I married a Thai lady, I feel very connected to Thai culture and the basic philosophy of Buddhism. The overall theme is about two cultures (Australian & Thai), merging to create a new identity, embracing change and becoming one! So I have tried to create repetitive organic looking markings that have a connection to both cultures.
I love to paint! I learned to draw at a young age but once I started to understand the principles and techniques of painting, it transferred me to another level of appreciation and anticipation.
In my younger years, I went for private lessons in landscape painting (after hours). Then, in my later years, I went to college (TAFE) & Uni NSW (COFA) to learn more where I managed to get many distinctions across different disciplines: painting | drawing | ceramics | and professional practice to name a few. My biggest passions in life are art and music!

Abstraction: Is not considered an accurate representation of the world around us. Basically, it uses colour, forms and gestural mark-making to convey the artist’s interpretation or vision. Abstraction is used to convey a story or evoke a feeling. There are a myriad of different ways to approach abstraction in painting and I have developed a few distinct or unique styles.
In this particular painting, I am trying to create an abstract interpretation of Thai patterning with a fusion of Australian dot painting - my style.
