Magnificent Mount Coolum, a well known volcanic dome, located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, is the backdrop for this painting. On the western side of the mountain, you can still see the remnants of a thriving sugar cane industry with some farms still growing cane. These days you find cattle grazing in the fields.
I love this scene - probably because it's familiar to where I grew up, in the Lockyer Valley - but also because it makes me feel like a slower pace lifestyle still exists just moments away from a busy coastal town.
