I spend part of each year in the south of Spain. It's quite mountainous and close to the sea.
The sun shines a great deal of the year and the hillsides can be very dry. The architecture in the seaside towns are earthy coloured or white to reflect the sun.
The atmosphere is hazy in the warm months and the magnificent blue skies are a delightful contrast to the neutral colored landscape.
