50cm x 50cm. Sometimes homesickness can hit you hard when you are away from your families and they are on the other side of the world. Especially when you can’t just jump on that plane and get there fast. For anyone from Ireland living away, I hope this painting with the greens of the fields and blues will remind you of your Ireland and to feel connected. This painting is of Silevenamon, in County Tipperary and I loved the fields that surrounded the mountain. It’s called the ‘mountain of the woman’ after folklore tells the story of an eligible bachelor and women racing to the top of this hill to be his wife. Not quite what happened when I met my husband! Why I painted this is because my husband is from County Tipperary and grew up on a farm surrounded by fields for miles.
Where ever you look in Ireland, the mountains in the background always appear blue.
I love the purple in this painting because it gives you something unexpected when you look at the landscape.
This artwork requires framing. I suggest an oak frame to offset the warmth of the purple in the mountains.
