Artist Picks: Sherry McCourt

'In order for me to really like a piece of art, it has to tell me a story. It can have sublime draughtsmanship or quick loose brushstrokes, but there will be a technical expertise that I can appreciate as an afterthought. Using non-traditional materials or working in an alternatively realistic manner is also especially appealing to me.'

About the Curator

Sherry McCourt

Twenty-five years ago, Sherry came to Australia on a one-year teaching exchange and somehow never returned to Canada. About a dozen years later, she decided that making art would be a perfect encore career and she hasn't looked back. Her figurative work on repurposed materials reflects her love of joining creative thinking to sustainable artwork.
