Cornish is an abstraction on the concept of monochrome black and white. It works on the principle of interaction. If you look at the detail you will notice a very careful balance of both the back and the white paints - no one colour dominates. It can be difficult to achieve this result without ending up with an overall grey appearance or to end up with too much detail and a confusing looking painting. I think I've achieved the right balance in terms of colour and complexity.
Cornish is a 100cm X 77cm quality artist grade Eraldo cotton canvas stretched onto a solid pine frame. I have used artist grade paints throughout this artwork - the painting continues over the sides of the frame, so it can be mounted as is without a frame. It has been signed on the front and finished off with several layers of gloss varnish. It is ready to hang.
