This painting is based on a drawing from life I did of a young man on a train listening to music. I wanted to inject some humour into the work so I added bright yellow blobs of oil paint which looks like the young commuter is having an allergic reaction on his travels. I have applied the oil paint very thickly to accentuate the texture of the painting. He seems to be very much in his own world whilst listening to his music.
