The composition of this abstract piece was inspired by ocean photography. I count myself among the many wave enthusiasts who appreciate close-ups of wave curls frozen in the moment before they crash and cease to exist. This subject lends itself to exploring the textural effects of mixed media: here I chose a combination of acrylic paint, charcoal and soft oil pastel. It would suit a room needing colour and interest; either as a statement piece or as part of a gallery wall; or to complement or contrast with other brightly coloured pieces (eg furniture or plants).
Born into a family of art lovers and artists; Lee is a multi art award finalist who continues to explore, diversify and create. Primarily a landscape artist obsessed with colourful sunsets and botanical forms; Lee is also a keen up cycler and found object enthusiast. Walks with the furbaby along beaches and through forests provide daily inspiration. After falling in love with surrealism in high school; Lee is still an occasional dabbler in the style, also enjoying a variety of abstract styles thanks to a fantastic online art community.
