Artwork Description

This painting is part of a series and is inspired by of the sandstone cliffs around Anglesea in Victoria, Australia. I spent a lot time at Angelsea at my grandparents house when I was a child. This part of Victoria still means a lot to me and its one of my favourites spots to walk along the beach and explore the rock pools and dunes.

I'm more interested in the way colour, shapes, textures and patterns create inner emotions, than trying to depict a 'photograph'. I have been told that my painting has a uniquely Australian style. I'm not sure what that is, but I'm very much influenced by Sidney Nolan, Reg Mombassa and Ken Done. My work is somewhere between fine art and design.
