Artwork Description

Reproduction Print on paper

Signed and numbered on the front.

This is a linocut print is taken from a drawing I created of Sunflowers at different stages of growth.

Printmaking and linocut printing is one of my favourite mediums to work with. I'm inspired by working with line, texture, and tone and the slow methodical way of hand carving the block prior to printing. The printing of the lino block is another art in itself, each print is unique and has a certain character.

Some of my main influences include the Australian printmakers: Margret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan and the Japanese printmaker: Un'ichi Hiratsuka and the Sōsaku-Hanga woodblock print movement ("creative prints") from the 20thC.

Paper: Cotton Rag Paper 250 gsm

These prints are hand-carved and printed, so there will be slight variations with each print.

Oil-based ink.
