"First Glimpse of Sea Cliff Bridge, Illawarra Coast" is a vibrant painting depicting a breathtaking coastal landscape. It captures the serene beauty of nature and the harmony between the ocean, beach and greenery along the coastal strip of the Illawarra region. This is the amazing panoramic view from Bald Hill Lookout, travelling south through the Royal National Park south of Sydney. It's showcasing the headlands leading to the ocean, dotted with coastal villages, and the vast blue ocean with frothy white waves featuring prominently. To add to the natural feel of this painting I included some shrubs in flower amidst the grasses growing in the foreground. And, in the far distance, one can just catch a hint of the this iconic bridge along the Grand Pacific Drive. I was a child when Mum and Dad took us for a drive to the coast and somehow came across this stunning view along the Illawarra Coast. The poem by Dorothea MacKellar 'My Country' was the inspiration I needed to create this coastal scene.
