"Humpback Whale Tail Slapping" was inspired by our visit to far North Queensland many years ago. We were out on one of the many tourist boats when quite suddenly and surprisingly, one of these majestic creatures of the ocean, Humpback Whales surfaced with a calf in tow, not 50 metres away from us. Such an awesome moment to witness them as they travelled north. Unforgettable. This is my take on this amazing moment when a whale is diving with itβs tail emerging from the water after lobtailing. The huge tail is of a dark grey colour due to it being wet and showing texture, detailing itβs natural skin patterns with ridges. With drops of water dripping off the edge of the tail, it creates a dynamic visual effect. I created the sea water in various colours indicating reflections and wave movement.
It was with great joy to create this wonderful scene of a Humpback Whale tail slapping after I found it on the Pixabay website. It brought back some lovely memories from our trip.
