This self portrait was selected as a finalist in the New Zealand Portrait Gallery's biennial Adam Portraiture Award 2020 where it received a 'Highly Commended'. The portrait was subsequently acquired by the Wallace Arts Trust that has a collection of over 9300 works of emerging and established New Zealand visual artists.

Artist Statement: Upon seeing this self-portrait my wife helpfully suggested the title ‘Screwed Up’. I’m still not sure if she was referring to the appearance of the painting or she meant me. In truth with the award deadline fast approaching and a bin full of rejected photo references, I retrieved one, smoothed the creases and began painting.

This artwork has a stained Tasmanian oak shadow frame with the framed dimensions of 64cm (w) x 64cm (h) x 5.5cm (d).
