Pigments have the ability to alter the transmission or reflection of light and hold an extensive history amongst artists as a colouring matter. Contemporary art is seeing a rise in vibrant colour palettes, mixing earthy tones with raw textures, creating striking pieces. This curation focuses on work from artists that emphasise the use of bold and rich pigments.

About the Curator
Sarah Elizabeth Hughes is an artist and curator based in Melbourne. Born in Perth, she completed a Bachelor of Arts from Edith Cowan University (Southwest campus) in her undergraduate studies Sarah focused and developed her practice as a visual artist.
In 2017 Sarah relocated to Melbourne and began her Master's studies in Arts Management at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Since arriving in Melbourne, since Sarah has continued her practice and become an active member of the arts community.
