Artwork Description

Oil on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

In this oil painting, I've captured a lively scene of play and spontaneity, where each figure is dynamically entangled in a moment of humorous mishap during a casual cricket game. Yet the work is a combination of memories of social cricket and a reflection upon over-competitive behaviour. Set against an everyday coastal suburban backdrop, the work explores themes of community, joy, and the unexpected twists in our daily interactions. It's a celebration of the light-hearted yet ironic moments that bring us together, vividly brought to life through a realistic yet figurative style. This piece invites warmth and conversation into any space, perfect for sparking joy and nostalgia. Sunday Hit and Miss is a combination of memories of social cricket and a reflection upon over-competitive behaviour.

This is a romanticised view of wildlife in a natural setting. I have been focusing in my studio on interpreting experiences from my own life and my ancestors' social histories in utilizing traditional oil painting techniques. I am particularly interested in Baroque, C18th and C19th Realism and Romanticism. This art interest overlaps with my interest in Ancestral and Social History. Cool colour composition . Atmospheric picture space using aerial perpsective. Wildlife in fringe suburb wilderness. Subjective interpretation of living near wilderness. Intensified emotional response to subject. Exaggerated colour Realistic interpretation of accumulated cultural memories associated with a place. Metaphysical quality of vacant city streets. Theatrical lighting to emphasise dramatic historical events. Symbolic artifacts to elicit cultural aspects of the city.
