Pastel on paper
Signed on the front.
My childhood home was full of treasures that filled me with wonder. They were my grandmother's. This teapot and matching cups and sauces were exotic, not only for their beauty of colour, form, and pictorial stories, but the sheer delicateness of them - almost transparent, thinner than egg shells. And to learn they were from Japan made them all the more magical at the time, as I learnt about geishas and tea ceremonies, while our household still upheld such traditions ourselves.
An absolute delight to capture in a much looser style than I usually am known for, but embracing the vibrancy, in colour and pastel strokes. And a sprinkling of gypsophila, to add some sparkle.
This artwork has been noted for special attention and commendation by renown art judges when critiquing at art gatherings, one specifically for pastel artworks.
