Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo's are frequent visitors to our Marri tree, and nearby bushland. Within my painting I wanted to capture the beauty of the Cockatoo as she expertly nestled on the Marri tree branch in the sunlight. I loved her intricate markings and colours throughout her feathers and intensity as she devoured the seed of the gumnut with such dexterity. The lush Marri tree foliage is an integral part of the painting, showing the sculptural shapes and patterns, which echo throughout our flora and fauna.
