This is an original, matted and framed Pastel Wildlife Portrait of "Billy" the Bilby. I have a particular fondness for Bilbies as I was once in the Bilby Triathlon Club, in Canberra. Billy was awarded 1st Prize in Pastels at the Queanbeyan Art Society's "Splash of Milk" Art Exhibition in 2017. Bilbies are listed as Endangered in Queensland and Vulnerable nationally. The main threat to their existence are introduced predators, but also livestock and overgrazing destroy their habitat. To aid in conservation efforts, Bilby's have become the Australian alternative to the Easter Bunny. I would also like to contribute to conservation efforts with my art, so 10% of profits from the sale of this portrait will be donated to the Save the Bilby Fund: https://savethebilbyfund.com/
Billy was created with Pan Pastels and Pastel pencils on Canson Mi-Teintes Tex paper. It comes matted, framed and ready-to-hang with D-hooks and picture wire attached. A copy of his prize certificate will also be included.
The image size in the mat is 26.5cm (w) x 38.5cm (h). The external dimensions of the mat are 41.5cm (w) x 50.5cm (h). The frame is 43.5cm (w) x 53.5cm (h).
The frame has a white face and natural light timber edges, and the mat is light grey-blue to complement the Bilby's colouring.
