The urban environment can be a source of both connection and isolation for those living in it but as an artist I find it's a source of endless inspiration. This artwork is one of a series of urban landscapes where I seek to open our eyes to the beauty all around us in simple things such as reflections on a wet street or water drops on a window.

The pavement level perspective of this painting captures the reflected light of Melbourne's iconic Flinders Street Station on a wet tram track. I’ve painted a bokeh effect in the background of this cityscape artwork, the term comes from the Japanese word boke which means ‘blur’ or ‘haze’. Although the bokeh effect is primarily a photographic technique I’ve replicated it here to accentuate the distorting and abstracting effect it has on the sources of light.

This artwork has a stained Tasmanian oak shadow frame with the framed dimensions of 64cm (w) x 64cm (h) x 5.5cm (d).
