Seven Artworks Find Their Forever Homes
Here at Bluethumb, there’s nothing we love more than seeing where our artists’ work ends up. We believe that any room can be made better with art, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see and feel a collector’s excitement when they finally hang the piece that initially caught their eye.
Lucky for us, many collectors want to share their brand new artwork with the world and post ‘in situ’ photos to Instagram under the hashtags #nonudewalls and #mybluethumbart. Below, see some of our recent favourites from homes around Australia.
From Artist to Collector: The Red One that Ron Likes
It’s always lovely to see artists collecting art and supporting their fellow creatives (we’ve even written a few blog posts, like this one, about artists’ top Bluethumb picks), but it’s even better when they look as beautiful as this one does! The post below is from Sally Browne, who recently purchased The Red One that Ron Likes by Brendan Kelly. Sally’s living room is cosy yet glamorous, and the piece fits in perfectly with its colour scheme, linearity and overall aesthetic.
Homme Sweet Homme: Homme 20
Pug-devotee and art lover Renee (@vincethepug) has purchased several pieces through Bluethumb and has loved every one! In this post, Renee shares her most recent purchase: one of Loribelle Spirovski’s highly popular ‘Homme’ series, Homme 20. Click through the gallery for a high-definition close-up of that piercing gaze!
Art and Music in Perfect Harmony: Hendrix Experiment
Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to work with House Rules Australia; a show where six couples renovate each other’s houses. Of course, we’re firm believers in the idea that no fresh renovation is complete without some fresh art on the walls, and the contestants did not let us down. Below is just one example of their expert styling. This statement piece by Zdravko not only looks fantastic, but it also elevates the rest of the room and transforms functional musical instruments into features of design.
A Room of One’s Own: Rose
This shot from working mum @tworedoneblonde shows that it’s never to early to start fostering a love for art and self-expression! The caption for the post reads: “Love how her room is starting to become her own #toddlermum #workingmumlife #sheloveseverybit #sodoi!” There’s nothing like original artwork to make a room feel truly special.
High Hopes in the Hamptons: Of Golden Sands and Rivers Deep
A particularly memorable episode of House Rules took place at Hope Island in the Hamptons. The team did an overall fantastic job, but their real achievement was choosing this high-impact piece by Claire Riddington-Jones, Of Golden Sands and Rivers Deep – it looks absolutely incredible!
Hand-Selected by The Style Curator: Forever and a Day
If anyone knows interior design, it’s Gina Ciancio, aka The Style Curator and judge of the Bluethumb Art Prize 18. From the looks of Gina’s Instagram feed, the feelings of adoration are mutual; she’s given several Bluethumb pieces a worthy home over the course of her own home makeover, and the results are amazing! Anyone else experiencing some serious home envy? Here’s one example Gina posted a few weeks ago, starring Marnie McKnight’s Forever and a Day.
Our Very Best Collector
Last but not least, we recently posted our own shots from the home of Bluethumb’s best customer and PR and Communications Manager, Freddy Grant (click here to see all the juicy details!). Freddy’s home boasts a number of Bluethumb artworks, as well as others that he’s sourced over the years. The collection looks fantastic as part of the vintage-eclectic 1920s home, and we have a feeling it’s going to keep growing! Since the time that it was published, Freddy has already added this piece by Jemma Cakebread. Sure you’ve got the wall space Freddy?
